BEN
Ben plays electric guitar and some bass. He grew up absorbing the music floating from his parents folk, Dixieland and classical vinyl LP's while keeping his transistor radio tuned into eclectic rock 'n roll stations. In junior high he started playing electric guitar in a little rock band that performed at dances and has kept at it in one way or another over the years. He began writing songs at age 10 and has been trying to write that next "Great American Song" ever since. His playing and songwriting influences are numerous and diverse and he listens to various shades of new and old folk, rock, alt-country, traditional country, reggae, real jazz, world music and whatever's interesting on local college radio. He lives in Framingham MA with his charming wife, new baby daughter, his brilliant son, and his motley collection of guitars and amps.
BRENT
Brent plays acoustic and electric guitar. He is originally from Atlanta, and lived in Dallas and New York City before settling in the Boston area with his family in 1993. While never a professional musician, he has been a music lover all his life. He started playing guitar at the age of eight (forty plus years later he is definitely getting the hang of it!). His musical roots are playing classic rock in various groups, with a brief foray into jazz rock (as a bass player). In recent years, he has been attracted to contemporary folk and alt-country (still leaning towards rock and blues influences). Brent is actively involved in song-writing, having contributed several of the tunes on Alter Ego's current song list. More of Brent's original songs can be found at Brent's broadjam page
CAROL
Carol can't remember a time when she wasn't singing. Throughout her life, she has performed in various settings and in a variety of genres, from rock and roll bands to churches. Her greatest joys in life have been her family, friends, and career as a nurse, but singing is her first-love, and she is thrilled to be part of Alter Ego.
LIAM
Liam (bass, guitar) has been playing music professionally for over 23 years, with bands in Texas and throughout New England. A prolific songwriter, he has been a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) since 1983. In addition to Liam's music background, he has appeared in over 25 theatrical productions, 2 films, and 3 television commercials, and has written, produced and directed several award-winning video productions for corporate sponsors. Liam lives in Lincoln, MA with his lovely wife Lyn and three wonderful daughters Alana, Sophia, and Marisa.
DEBI
Debi grew up influenced by her father's musical career as a violinist in the Boston Symphony. She began taking piano lessons at age 5, and was the pianist for her high school's musical productions. She continued to study piano while pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse, but her passion for music came to the foreground during her stay-at-home years raising young children, when Debi began writing children's songs and playing for local nursing homes and community productions. From 2000- 2005 she served as the music director for St. Anselm parish in Sudbury, and pursued Christian contemporary songwriting for her congregation and other local churches. She began writing music and lyrics in the folk/pop and alt- country genres, as well as adult alternative/contemporary ballads in the last few years. She now teaches piano/keyboard in her Framingham studio. Debi's Music Studio
STEVE
Steve discovered a passion for playing drums just
over three years ago, after many years of playing tenor saxophone in funk and
jazz bands. He grew up in a musical family -- his parents actually met taking
voice lessons -- and music was always present in his home. He didn't inherit the
vocal genes, but has been playing various instruments since childhood: clarinet,
saxophone, guitar, and piano. He finally found his love for percussion when he
had the chance to play his nephew's drums one day in 2003. A few
months later, he insinuated a drum kit into his own basement and has been
practicing madly since then. For Steve, helping to provide a ryhthmic foundation
for the talented vocalists, musicians, and songwriters of Alter Ego is a huge
kick. Steve and his talented wife Marielle have two fantastic daughters and one
small long dog.
