Ben plays electric guitar and some bass. He grew up absorbing the music of his parents' vinyl LPs and keeping his radio tuned into eclectic rock 'n roll stations. He started playing guitar in junior high in a band that performed at dances, and began writing songs at age 10. He's been trying to write that next "Great American Song" ever since. His influences are diverse and include shades of new and old folk, rock, alt-country, traditional country, reggae, real jazz, world music and whatever's interesting on college radio. He lives in Framingham with his charming wife, new baby daughter, his brilliant son, and his motley collection of guitars and amps.
Brent plays acoustic and electric guitar. He is originally from Atlanta, and lived in Dallas and New York City before settling in the Boston area with his family in 1993. His musical roots are playing classic rock in various groups, with a brief foray into jazz rock (as a bass player). Brent is actively involved in song-writing, having contributed several of the tunes on Alter Ego's current song list. More of Brent's original songs can be found at Brent's broadjam page
Carol can't remember a time when she wasn't singing. Throughout her life, she has performed in various settings and in a variety of genres, from rock and roll bands to churches. Her greatest joys in life have been her family, friends, and career as a nurse, but singing is her first-love, and she is thrilled to be part of Alter Ego.
Leah began her love affair with music and singing at an early age. She studied voice and choral music education at the New England Conservatory of Music and has performed a variety of vocal and musical genres. She is most inspired by ensemble singing, tight harmonies, and music that lifts the spirits and soothes the soul. She is thrilled to be working with the incredible vocal and musical talent of her fellow band mates, especially sister Carol. She is blessed with amazing daughters, Sarah and Kate, and her husband Bob, soul mate and love of her life.

Scott's music history is life-long: singing at age 4 with his parents’ Barbershop rehearsals, piano and organ lessons at 8 and 13, and high school choruses. He's a Berklee graduate (Bass Performance), with years playing in local bands, a 2-year stint in Las Vegas, and ongoing performing in the Boston area with diverse musical acts. He’s always believed the bass is an integral melodic instrument, and contributes arrangement ideas to others’ songwriting. He’s done a lot of recording, but his favorite venue is live playing. Scott shares his life with Lisa, and their son Erik, a cat named Penelope, and motorcycle named Sydney.
Steve discovered a passion for playing drums just a few years ago, after many years of playing tenor saxophone in funk and jazz bands. He's been playing music since childhood: clarinet, saxophone, guitar, and piano. One day in 2003, he insinuated a drum kit into his basement and has been practicing madly since then. For Steve, helping to provide a ryhthmic foundation for the talented vocalists, musicians, and songwriters of Alter Ego is a huge kick. Steve and his talented wife Marielle have two fantastic daughters and one small long dog.
